Waking up at 4am, again this time around. We thought it has been a very very long while since the last we had to wake up from our bed soooo early in the morning but, still...
Anyway, here's some pictures of the event that we covered for the Gurney Paragon's X-Ride Competition 2012. The event was held for the first time in the new mall area, Gurney Paragon is only merely 1 year old. So, this event marked an opening of the venue as host to big scale event like this.
All riders will have to ride for more than 50km "surrounding" Penang from Gurney Drive to Penang Botanic Garden to Teluk Bahang to Tiger Hill to Titi Kerawang Hill till Batu Ferringhi and back to the main venue.
Imagine the challenging route!!
So, Red Bull is definitely worth it as an encouragement and compliment to their hard work riding across Penang in such a rainy weather..yes, it was raining since the start and only ended with a sunny sky when the event came to a close at 3pm.
Here's the set up of the venue for Red Bull~
Registration for the participants upon arrival with the number bibs for their bikes!
Flag off at 7am!
While the riders start their journey, the VIPs (Deputy CM Dato' Kadir and Penang Youth and Sport Council EXCO YB Lydia Ong together with Managing Director of Gurney Paragon Datin Daisy Ooi) and St Nicholas Home for the Blind joined in for a short fun ride around Gurney Drive.
Display of old and 'ancient' bicycles.
Cheque presentation for St Nicholas Home for the Blind.
A pic with the champions , Top 3 are all from the Giant group of riders!
Top 10 riders for the competition and the female champion were crowned at the end of the event. Impressive records from the lady rider, only 3hours and 10minutes to reach the finale from the 50km ride around Penang! Bravo bravo bravo!!
Cheers from all of us!
